- Deals with Risk and Opportunities
Fundamentally, it deals with both the risk and opportunities where OHSAS 18001 and previous standards primarily dealt with the risks presented by an organization.
Main Difference between ISO 45001 and OHSAS 18001
The new ISO 45001 standard implements a high-level structure that is compatible with ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 9001:2015; therefore, applying and integrating this management system will add values to organizations and raise the health and safety bar.
ISO 45001 replaces OHSAS 18001, the world’s former reference for workplace health and safety. Organizations already certified to OHSAS 18001 will have three years to comply with the new ISO 45001 standard, although certification of conformity to ISO 45001 is not a requirement of the standard.
OHSAS 18001
OHSAS 18001 or Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series, (officially BS OHSAS 18001) were a British Standard for occupational health and safety management systems. Compliance with it enabled organizations to demonstrate that they had a system in place for occupational health and safety.
Benefit
OHSAS 18001 provides a system to identify and effectively manage occupational health and safety hazards in order to minimize health and safety risks. It provides tools and techniques to identify potential causes of accidents and helps organizations improve employee awareness of risks.
It gives companies an international competitive edge and boosts employee safety. OHSAS 18001 in Iraq plays a key role to safeguard employees at work locations. Being certified helps you improve overall organization image and competitiveness.
